Red Velvet, Sugar Cookie Cupcake Cones!

Cupcake Cones

Who says ice cream is the only thing you can fill a sugar cone with? We had a blast making these cute little cupcake cones using all three Cake Batter flavors; Chocolate, Vanilla and Red Velvet. Our son, Robert, who loves to make crazy creations with food wanted to add cookie dough in the Red Velvet batter. We probably should have recorded his reaction when he tasted the final product. He took a bite, closed his eyes, started dancing and preceded to tell us how the soft velvety texture of the cake mixed with the gummy texture of the sugar cookie was something like a magic trick in his mouth! Our baby knows his food!

This recipe was so simple, easy and a fun way for the kids to spend a summer afternoon. Using the Cake Batter makes it easy for them to be super creative without making a mess of our kitchen! And the best part is that the rest of the batter can be refrigerated and saved for the next time they get the urge to create another culinary masterpiece!

Cupcake Cones using Cake Batter

To get started, we arranged the sugar cones into the Wilton cupcake cone caddy. We scooped two Tablespoons of Vanilla and Chocolate Batter and only one Tablespoon of Red Velvet Batter split in half by the Sugar cookie dough in each cone. Making 4 cones of each flavor. We baked them at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes or until our toothpick came out clean. Once the cones cooled, the fun part began! We topped half with vanilla buttercream frosting and the other half with chocolate buttercream frosting. Drizzled a little chocolate ganache, sprinkled on some jimmies and topped them with a cherry! Just like an ice cream cone, only no "driperization", in the words of Trina Braxton from Braxton Family Values! It was the perfect little summertime treat, without the mess! And, they tasted Oh So Delicious!
